OUR STORY

Worship Becomes Us

Our God is a "Way Maker...Miracle Worker...Promise Keeper"

Worship is GOOD For The MIND, BODY, SPIRIT AND SOUL!

"...a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth,

for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

~ JOHN 4:23 - 24

Turning Interest Into Action

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. In 2014 our team established Holy Education, a Messianic Jewish initiative driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of faith and support. Shabbat Retreat emerged out of a pursuit to further inspire and support the community; as well as a desire for actions to speak louder than words.

Shabbat Retreat is driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place.

A Distinct Identity

Shabbat Retreat knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. We understand that by working together we can overcome all things! We identified crucial opportunities in the community that we wanted to address through our efforts: Rest and Study.  Of course, paramount to this since we all live in this busy world of ours was to have a solution that allowed us to answer the clarion call; and do it much more efficiently. Shabbat Retreat is the solution…a place of rest where a person can refresh spirit, mind, body and soul while immersing in beautiful natural surroundings as well as a place where one can come study, commune with the Creator of all things and meditate on the Word of God.

We believe Faith is more than religion. It's about a relationship between a person and GOD. Also, it is our firm belief that Sabbath celebration is good for you. It is GOD's gift to all of mankind - all people - men, women and children. According to Exodus 20:8–11, the Sabbath is the seventh day of the week, on which the children of Israel were to rest, in remembrance that GOD created the universe in six days and then “rested” on the seventh day.

A Place of Rest…A Time of Refreshing

As such, Shabbat Retreat was formed to provide a place where one can escape the hustle and bustle of the big city and immerse in a majestic rural country hideaway nestled amongst the trees. Your next getaway is near Houston, The Woodlands, Spring and Conroe, Texas! We invite you to Shabbat Retreat (immerse in sweet rest) while camping and sleeping under the stars. Shabbat literally means, “he rested”. And, couldn’t we all use a little rest from time to time - a day of peace, meditation and time set aside to just relax — a time of refreshing and reflection to recharge and experience the beauty of nature... creation? We dare you to say “Nah, I'm good”. Picture this: fresh country air, trees, blue skies, kayaking, fishing, reading a book, relaxing to your favorite music, enjoying board games, a BBQ cookout with family and friends or whatever your heart desires while you enjoy our very own secluded property and private camp center on a private lake - where you’ll call our little Tent of Meeting, “home”.

A Tent of Meeting

Our Tabernacle in The Wilderness collection’s biblical artifacts are part of Shabbat Retreat’s exciting invitation and clarion message to the community of believers to “Come, Draw Near!” to GOD, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Shabbat Retreat, a secluded property and private camp center, offers an Experiential Tour of beautiful and inspiring museum-quality full-size reproductions of The Tabernacle furnishings and biblical artifacts! It’s definitely a collection worth seeing in person and we are prayerful it’s an experience that anyone who heeds the clarion call of Drawing Near... for their obedience - will experience miracles, signs and wonders in their life and be blessed.

A House of Study

For the serious disciple who wants to get past shallow teaching, understand their Bibles, and know Jesus better we host Torah Club, a small-group Bible study where disciples study the Bible from a Jewish perspective through in-depth discussions and good fellowship.

As an integral part of our Holy Education initiative our efforts are dedicated to the study and teaching of Scripture from its historical, linguistic, and cultural context. Our decision making process and course offering is informed by prayerful evaluation of the following comprehensive biblical studies:

HaYesod: The Sabbath
